Things to consider before submitting

As you prepare to enter the Showcase, consider the answer to these questions. All of the answers should be found in the Problem Statement completed in your eWorkbook.

Who are your target users?

  • Who are the intended users?
  • Describe the people who would use your product and show that you understand their needs

What problem is your idea trying to solve?

  • Explain the problem you want to fix.
  • Try to clearly describe why this problem matters.
  • You can reference a Sustainable Development Goal if you like. Please write out the full name of the goal, not just the number.
  • Your ideation activities and problem statement can help here.

Why is it important to address this problem?

  • Try to show why solving this problem would make a real difference.
  • It might be useful to refer to the five 'Whys' in your problem statement here.

How do you propose solving this problem?

  • Explain in detail how your product helps solve the problem you identified.
  • Consider which features you have used in your app design.
  • What makes your idea new or needed?

An overview of the shortlisting criteria

We are looking for solutions that demonstrate innovative thinking and stand out from the rest. Once we receive your entry, it'll be uploaded to our platform for review and rating by a range of industry professionals.

Our shortlisters are asked to:

  • Provide constructive feedback via an optional comment box.
  • Rate submissions based on the three things below.

  1. The Idea - How well does the solution address the problem?
  2. The Solution - How well does the app tackle the problem it’s trying to solve?
  3. The Entry - How clearly do the students explain their idea (regardless of finish)?

Common questions from students

1. What happens after you enter?

Your teacher will be sent an email to confirm you have entered the Apps for Good Showcase. The email will also include a record of what you entered into the Showcase entry form.

2. What do the Shortlisters look for?

See the shortlisting criteria above.

3. How are the showcase entries chosen?

All entries are sent to a team of Shortlisters, where they're reviewed and rated several times. The Apps for Good team then reviews the ratings and comments for the projects. Based on this information, a select number of entries are chosen to be showcased for each category.

4. When will teams know if they are being showcased?

Your teacher will be informed if your entry is being showcased by Monday 11 May 2026.

5. What's expected of showcased submissions?

Your team will get the chance to pitch virtually to a panel of Industry Volunteers in the week commencing Monday 15 June 2026.

All Showcased teams will also have the opportunity to rally their communities to vote for them in our online People’s Choice Award.
